Came To Believe Recovery, Inc., is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial professional for our Director of Fundraising and Special Events. In this newly created and hands on role due to the increased demand for our services, the Director will be the driving force responsible for strategy, implementation, organizing and directing fundraising efforts, major gifts program, fund management, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns. This highly visible role will partner and collaborate closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors. Position will be remote, however must reside in the NJ/NY Metropolitan area.

Came To Believe Recovery, Inc.(CTBR) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing effective addiction recovery programs using the original 12-step program rooted in spiritual principles. We strive to create and promote opportunities for life-changing spiritual experiences for individuals and families suffering from all forms of addiction. CTBR provides the proven tools to begin a life free from brokenness and suffering, allowing individuals to thrive in all areas of their lives.

What will be my responsibilities?

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan (short & long term) to meet the financial needs of CTBR Inc.
  • Donor Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Grant Writing: Identify grant opportunities and prepare grant proposals to secure funding.
  • Event Planning: Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Communication: Develop and oversee communications strategies, including newsletters, social media, and the organization’s website, to effectively convey the mission and needs of the organization.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and manage the development budget; track and report on fundraising progress and outcomes.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with fundraising activities.
  • Board Engagement: Work with the Board of Directors to develop and implement fundraising initiatives and to build a culture of philanthropy within the organization.

What skills are needed for success?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) certification a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a nonprofit/foundation focused on increasing fundraising for programs. Addiction recovery, hospital or social services environments preferred.
  • Proven track record in marketing/communications, campaigns and budgets to achieve fundraising goals by securing major gifts, donations and coordinating events.
  • Process knowledge and experience in securing grants (local, state and federal).
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication (written & verbal) skills a must.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail along with project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SalesForce a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support events and programs.
  • Passion for the mission of Came to Believe Recovery, Inc. and a deep understanding of 12-step addiction recovery principles and spiritual guidance.
